Whatsapp is a popular program for communicating with other Whatsapp users. |
WhatsApp Web is probably blocked on mobile operating systems because WhatsApp needs access to your photos, among other things. This may not always be possible in mobile browsers. This means that you require a further app in order to use WhatsApp Web on your tablet. An app of this type is now available for iPads: MessagePad.
The app is completely free of charge and can be downloaded to your iPad from the App Store. To use the app, you must already be registered as a WhatsApp user. This is because you need the app on your smartphone in order to log in.
The app is free-of-charge but does display adverts. You can use the app without the adverts for 99 cents.
The setup procedure
Open the MessagePad app on your iPad. You will see a large QR code in the centre of your display. You have to scan this with the WhatsApp app on your smartphone in order to log in. Open WhatsApp on your smartphone, go to Settings at the bottom right and then to WhatsApp Web. Now hold your smartphone camera above the code on your iPad so that you see the complete image. You iPad logs in automatically now and you can use WhatsApp.
Open WhatsApp on your smartphone and go to Settings > WhatsApp Web.
Not really ideal
Because the app operates via WhatsApp Web, the situation is not really ideal. For example, you always have to have your smartphone in reach if you want to use WhatsApp on your iPad.
Using the iPad is more convenient though, due to the larger screen.
Typing messages is easier, particularly if you have connected a good Bluetooth keyboard to the iPad.
